His Excellency Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received today, Thursday, 1 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, who is on an official visit to the State of Libya, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Fathallah Al-Zani, Minister of State for African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Mr. Alaa Al-Din Al-Tajouri, Director of the African Affairs Department.<\/p>\n

The two sides held a meeting during which they discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the relations between the State of Libya and the African Union, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination across various fields in a manner that contributes to advancing joint African action and enhancing Libya\u2019s role within the African Union, in addition to coordinating positions at multilateral international forums on issues of mutual interest.<\/p>\n

The two sides also discussed developments in the African continent and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as the ongoing preparations for the State of Libya to host the meeting of the Committee of Ten (C10) on United Nations Security Council reform, scheduled to take place in Tripoli on 10 and 11 October 2026.<\/p>\n

The meeting also addressed the ongoing preparations for the State of Libya to host the Fourth Africa-T\u00fcrkiye Summit, scheduled to take place in Tripoli on 8 and 9 December 2026, and ways to enhance coordination with the African Union Commission to ensure the success of this important event.<\/p>\n

The two sides underscored the importance of continuing consultations and coordination on various issues of mutual interest, including the coordination of positions in regional and international multilateral forums, in a manner that strengthens the partnership between the State of Libya and the African Union, and supports the efforts of the African continent to advance its interests and enhance its presence on the international stage.<\/p>\n
