As part of the official visit of H.E. Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to the Republic of Iraq, heading a Libyan delegation to participate in the meetings of the Libyan-Iraqi Joint Committee, being held on 23 and 24 August, after a hiatus of nearly a quarter of a century, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, received H.E. Mr. El- Taher El-Baour, today, Sunday, 23 August 2026, at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Baghdad.<\/p>\n

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop and strengthen them across various fields, in addition to addressing a number of regional and international issues of common interest and exchanging views on them.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides held a joint press conference, during which they reviewed the latest developments in Libyan-Iraqi relations and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and broaden its prospects across various fields. They also addressed a number of regional and international issues and enhancing cooperation and coordination in a manner that serves shared interests and supports security and stability in the region.<\/p>\n
