H.E. Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received on Monday, 6 July 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters, H.E. Mr. Abdulfattah Sheikh Ahmed, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the State of Libya, on the occasion of the commencement of his diplomatic mission in Libya.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the fraternal relations between the two countries and discussed ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across various fields.<\/p>\n

In this context, both sides agreed to enhance coordination through diplomatic channels with a view to activating the bilateral agreements concluded between the two countries and making the necessary arrangements to convene the Libyan\u2013Somali Joint Committee at the earliest opportunity.<\/p>\n

The two sides also discussed the arrangements for the forthcoming visit of H.E. Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, to the State of Libya.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination in a manner that would strengthen bilateral cooperation, advance relations between the two countries to broader horizons, serve the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, and further consolidate the bonds of friendship and cooperation between them.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Mr. Najeeb Al-Rayani, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, and Mr. Malek Al-Asifer, Officer responsible for the Federal Republic of Somalia Desk.<\/p>\n
