شارك معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، المكلف بتسيير شؤون وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، اليوم الاثنين الموافق 7 سبتمبر 2026، في أعمال الدورة الـ166 لمجلس جامعة الدول العربية على مستوى وزراء الخارجية، التي عقدت بمقر الأمانة العامة للجامعة في العاصمة المصرية القاهرة، بمشاركة وزراء الخارجية ورؤساء الوفود العربية، وبرئاسة الجمهورية التونسية، وبمشاركة السيد نبيل فهمي، الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية في أول اجتماع دوري لمجلس الجامعة على المستوى الوزاري منذ توليه مهام منصبه.
وتضمنت الجلسة الافتتاحية كلمات لرئاسة الدورة السابقة ورئاسة الدورة الحالية، إلى جانب كلمة للأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية، قبل انتقال وزراء الخارجية إلى مناقشة بنود جدول الأعمال ومشروعات القرارات المعروضة عليهم.
وتصدرت القضية الفلسطينية وتطورات الأوضاع في قطاع غزة والقدس الملفات المطروحة أمام وزراء الخارجية العرب، إلى جانب تطورات عدد من الأزمات والقضايا الإقليمية وسبل تعزيز العمل العربي المشترك.
كما بحث وزراء الخارجية عددا من الملفات العربية الراهنة، في مقدمتها تطورات الأوضاع في ليبيا، إلى جانب القضايا المرتبطة بالأمن والاستقرار الإقليمي وتعزيز التنسيق بين الدول العربية.
وشهدت أعمال الدورة كذلك مشاركة كريستيان سوندرز، المفوض العام بالإنابة لوكالة الأمم المتحدة لإغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في الشرق الأدنى (الأونروا)، في ظل الأزمة التمويلية والتحديات السياسية التي تواجه الوكالة.
H.E. Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, participated today, Monday, 7 September 2026, in the 166th Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Foreign Ministers’ level, held at the headquarters of the League’s General Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt. The session was attended by Arab foreign ministers and heads of delegations, chaired by the Republic of Tunisia, and attended by Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in his first regular ministerial-level meeting of the Council since assuming his post.
The opening session featured statements by the presidencies of the previous and current sessions, as well as an address by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, before the foreign ministers proceeded to discuss the agenda items and draft resolutions submitted for their consideration.
The Palestinian cause and developments in the Gaza Strip and Jerusalem topped the issues on the agenda of the Arab foreign ministers, alongside developments concerning a number of regional crises and issues and ways to strengthen joint Arab action.
The foreign ministers also discussed a number of pressing Arab issues, foremost among them developments in Libya, as well as issues related to regional security and stability and strengthening coordination among Arab countries.
The session also featured the participation of Christian Saunders, Acting Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), amid the Agency’s funding crisis and the political challenges it faces.
