شارك معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، المكلف بتسيير شؤون وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، اليوم الخميس الموافق 27 أغسطس 2026، في أعمال الاجتماع الطارئ لمجلس وزراء خارجية الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الإسلامي، المنعقد بمقر الأمانة العامة للمنظمة في مدينة جدة بالمملكة العربية السعودية.
وبحث الاجتماع عدداً من القضايا المدرجة على جدول أعمال المنظمة، وفي مقدمتها مستجدات القضية الفلسطينية، إلى جانب مناقشة المرحلة المقبلة من عمل المنظمة، بما يعزز العمل الإسلامي المشترك ويخدم تطلعات ومصالح الدول الأعضاء.
وشهد الاجتماع انتخاب الدبلوماسي الموريتاني إسماعيل ولد الشيخ أحمد أميناً عاماً جديداً لمنظمة التعاون الإسلامي، التي تضم في عضويتها 57 دولة، خلفاً للأمين العام الحالي حسين إبراهيم طه، الذي تولى مهامه في نوفمبر 2021 وتنتهي ولايته رسمياً في نوفمبر 2026.
ويأتي انتخاب الأمين العام الجديد في إطار الاستعداد للمرحلة المقبلة من عمل المنظمة، وتعزيز آليات التنسيق والتشاور بين الدول الأعضاء، بما يسهم في دعم القضايا والمصالح المشتركة للدول الإسلامية.
His Excellency Mr. El- Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, participated today, Thursday, 27 August 2026, in the proceedings of the emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held at the Organization’s General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting discussed a number of issues on the Organization’s agenda, foremost among them the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause, as well as the next phase of the Organization’s work, in a manner that strengthens joint Islamic action and serves the aspirations and interests of its Member States.
The meeting also witnessed the election of Mauritanian diplomat Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as the new Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which comprises 57 Member States. He succeeds the current Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, who assumed office in November 2021, with his term officially ending in November 2026.
The election of the new Secretary-General comes as part of preparations for the next phase of the Organization’s work and efforts to strengthen mechanisms for coordination and consultation among Member States, thereby contributing to advancing the common causes and interests of Islamic countries.
