التقى معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، المكلف بتسيير شؤون وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، اليوم الأحد الموافق 20 سبتمبر 2026، معالي السيد محمد رحمان سواري، وزير الشؤون الخارجية والتعاون الدولي بجمهورية سيراليون، وبصفته منسق لجنة العشرة الأفريقية المعنية باصلاح مجلس الأمن ، وذلك على هامش أعمال الدورة الحادية والثمانين للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة المنعقدة في نيويورك
تناول اللقاء سبل تعزيز العلاقات الثنائية وأطر التعاون المشترك بين البلدين، لا سيما في المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والتنموية، إلى جانب تكثيف التشاور والتنسيق السياسي وتبادل الدعم في المحافل الإقليمية والدولية بما يعزز حضور البلدين ومصالحهما في الأطر متعددة الأطراف، كما تبادل الطرفان وجهات النظر بشأن عدد من القضايا الإقليمية والدولية ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
كما تطرق الجانبان إلى التحضيرات الجارية لاستضافة العاصمة طرابلس لأعمال الاجتماع الوزاري للجنة العشرة التابعة للاتحاد الإفريقي (C10) المعنية بإصلاح مجلس الأمن الدولي خلال شهر أكتوبر المقبل، حيث ثمن الجانب السيراليوني الجهود الحثيثة التي تقودها الدبلوماسية الليبية لإنجاح هذا المحفل القاري، مؤكدَين أهميته في تعزيز الموقف الإفريقي الموحد والدفع بمطالب القارة العادلة في المحافل الدولية.
H.E. Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met today, Sunday, 20 September 2026, with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swaray, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Coordinator of the African Committee of Ten (C10) on the Reform of the United Nations Security Council, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and frameworks for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the political, economic, and development fields. The two sides also discussed intensifying political consultations and coordination, as well as exchanging support in regional and international forums, in a manner that enhances the presence of both countries and advances their interests within multilateral frameworks. They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The two sides further discussed the ongoing preparations for the capital, Tripoli, to host the Ministerial Meeting of the African Union Committee of Ten (C10) on the Reform of the United Nations Security Council in October. The Sierra Leonean side commended the vigorous efforts led by Libyan diplomacy to ensure the success of this continental gathering, while both sides underscored its importance in strengthening a unified African position and advancing the continent’s legitimate demands in international forums.
