ترأس معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، المكلف بتسيير شؤون وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، الجانب الليبي في أعمال اجتماعات اللجنة الليبية-العراقية المشتركة، المنعقدة اليوم الاثنين الموافق 24 أغسطس 2026، بالعاصمة العراقية بغداد، فيما ترأس الجانب العراقي معالي السيد فؤاد حسين، وزير خارجية جمهورية العراق، وذلك بحضور عدد من المسؤولين وممثلي الجهات والمؤسسات المعنية من البلدين.
وتناولت أعمال اللجنة بحث سبل تطوير العلاقات الثنائية بين ليبيا والعراق، وتعزيز التعاون المشترك في مختلف المجالات، ولا سيما السياسية والاقتصادية والأمنية، إلى جانب مناقشة عدد من الملفات والقضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك، وتبادل وجهات النظر بشأن التطورات الإقليمية والدولية ذات الصلة.
كما بحث الجانبان آليات تعزيز التنسيق والتشاور السياسي، وتفعيل الاتفاقيات ومذكرات التفاهم المبرمة بين البلدين، ومتابعة تنفيذ ما تم التوصل إليه من تفاهمات، بما يسهم في فتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون والشراكة، ويعزز المصالح المشتركة للبلدين والشعبين الشقيقين.
وفي ختام أعمال اللجنة، شهدت مراسم التوقيع على عدد من الاتفاقيات ومذكرات التفاهم والبرامج التنفيذية الجديدة بين الجهات المختصة في البلدين، شملت مجالات متنوعة، من بينها التعاون السياسي والاقتصادي والتجاري والاستثماري، إلى جانب مجالات الأمن والنقل والتعليم والثقافة والصحة وغيرها من القطاعات ذات الأولوية، بما يعكس رغبة الجانبين في الانتقال بالعلاقات الثنائية إلى مرحلة أكثر فاعلية واتساعاً.
وأكد الجانبان أهمية أن تشكل هذه الاتفاقيات ومذكرات التفاهم إطاراً عملياً لتطوير التعاون الثنائي، وترجمة التفاهمات المشتركة إلى مشاريع وبرامج تنفيذية تعود بالنفع على البلدين والشعبين الشقيقين.
وتأتي اجتماعات اللجنة المشتركة في إطار حرص ليبيا والعراق على تعزيز علاقاتهما الثنائية وتفعيل آليات التعاون المؤسسي، بعد توقف أعمال اللجنة لنحو ربع قرن، بما يؤسس لمرحلة جديدة من التنسيق والتعاون والشراكة بين البلدين في مختلف المجالات.
His Excellency Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, chaired the Libyan side at the meeting of the Libyan-Iraqi Joint Committee, held today, Monday, August 24, 2026, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The Iraqi side was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Fuad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, in the presence of a number of officials and representatives of relevant entities and institutions from both countries.
The committee’s discussions focused on ways to develop bilateral relations between Libya and Iraq and enhance cooperation across various fields, particularly political, economic, and security cooperation. The two sides also discussed a number of issues and matters of mutual interest and exchanged views on relevant regional and international developments.
The two sides further discussed mechanisms for strengthening political coordination and consultations, activating existing agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries, and following up on the implementation of the understandings reached, in a manner that contributes to opening new avenues for cooperation and partnership and advancing the shared interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
At the conclusion of the committee’s work, a signing ceremony was held for a number of new agreements, memoranda of understanding, and executive programs between the competent authorities of the two countries. These covered various fields, including political, economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as security, transport, education, culture, health, and other priority sectors, reflecting the two sides’ desire to move bilateral relations toward a broader and more effective phase.
The two sides emphasized the importance of these agreements and memoranda of understanding serving as a practical framework for developing bilateral cooperation and translating shared understandings into projects and executive programs that benefit both countries and their brotherly peoples.
The meeting of the Joint Committee comes within the framework of Libya and Iraq’s commitment to strengthening their bilateral relations and activating institutional mechanisms for cooperation, following a nearly quarter-century hiatus in the committee’s work, thereby laying the foundation for a new phase of coordination, cooperation, and partnership between the two countries across various fields.
