التقى معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، المكلف بتسيير شؤون وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، اليوم الثلاثاء الموافق 28 يوليو 2026، بمعالي السيد محمود علي يوسف، رئيس مفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي، وذلك على هامش مشاركته في أعمال الدورة العادية التاسعة والأربعين للمجلس التنفيذي للاتحاد الإفريقي، المنعقدة بالعاصمة الإثيوبية أديس أبابا.
تناول اللقاء سبل تعزيز التعاون والتنسيق بين دولة ليبيا ومفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي، إلى جانب بحث عدد من الموضوعات المدرجة على جدول أعمال الاتحاد، والقضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك على الساحة الإفريقية.
كما استعرض الجانبان مستجدات الأوضاع في القارة الإفريقية، والجهود المبذولة لدعم الأمن والاستقرار وتعزيز التنمية المستدامة، مؤكدين أهمية مواصلة التشاور والتنسيق بما يسهم في دعم العمل الإفريقي المشترك وتحقيق تطلعات شعوب القارة.
وفي هذا الاطار، ناقش الجانبان الترتيبات الجارية لاستضافة العاصمة الليبية طرابلس للقمة الافريقية – التركية المرتقبة في شهر ديسمبر المقبل، والتي توجت بتوقيع اتفاق الاستضافة اليوم الثلاثاء مع مفوضية الاتحاد الأفريقي على هامش أعمال اجتماع المجلس التنفيذي، كما ناقش الجانبان الخطوات المتعلقة بإعادة افتتاح بعثة الاتحاد الإفريقي في العاصمة طرابلس قريبا، تأكيدا على تنامي التعاون بين ليبيا والاتحاد الإفريقي ودعما لمسيرة العمل الإفريقي المشترك.
وأكد معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، خلال اللقاء، حرص دولة ليبيا على دعم جهود الاتحاد الإفريقي وتعزيز دوره في مواجهة التحديات الراهنة، بما يخدم مصالح الدول الأعضاء ويسهم في ترسيخ السلم والاستقرار والتنمية في القارة الإفريقية.
من جانبه، أشاد رئيس مفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي بدور ليبيا الفاعل داخل مؤسسات الاتحاد، وبمساهماتها في دعم مسيرة العمل الإفريقي المشترك، مؤكدا أهمية استمرار التعاون والتنسيق مع دولة ليبيا في مختلف القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
H.E. Mr. El- Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, with H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the State of Libya and the African Union Commission, in addition to reviewing a number of issues on the Union’s agenda and matters of common interest on the African continent.
The two sides also reviewed recent developments across Africa and the efforts being undertaken to promote peace, security, and sustainable development. They emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination in support of African joint action and the aspirations of the peoples of the continent.
In this context, the two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for hosting the upcoming Africa–Türkiye Summit in Tripoli next December, following the signing of the Host Agreement with the African Union Commission earlier on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Executive Council session. They also discussed the arrangements related to the reopening of the African Union Mission in Tripoli in the near future, reflecting the growing cooperation between Libya and the African Union and supporting the advancement of African joint action.
During the meeting, H.E. Mr. El-Baour reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the African Union and strengthening its role in addressing current challenges in a manner that serves the interests of Member States and contributes to consolidating peace, stability, and development across the African continent.
For his part, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission commended Libya’s active role within the institutions of the African Union and its contributions to advancing African joint action, stressing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination with Libya on issues of mutual interest.
