استقبل معالي السيد الطاهر الباعور، المكلف بتسيير شؤون وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، صباح اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 20 مايو 2026، بديوان الوزارة، سعادة السيد مارتن رينولدز، سفير المملكة المتحدة لدى دولة ليبيا.
تناول اللقاء سبل تعزيز العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، والعمل على تفعيل أوجه التعاون المشترك في مختلف المجالات، بما يسهم في دعم الشراكة الثنائية وتطويرها بما يخدم مصالح الشعبين الصديقين.
وبحث الجانبان مستجدات المشهد السياسي في ليبيا، والجهود التي تبذلها حكومة الوحدة الوطنية لترسيخ الأمن والاستقرار ودفع عجلة التنمية المستدامة، إضافة إلى دعمها لجهود بعثة الأمم المتحدة في ليبيا.
كما تبادل الجانبان وجهات النظر حول أبرز التطورات على الساحتين الإقليمية والدولية، إلى جانب مناقشة القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
وأكد الطرفان أهمية تعزيز الأمن والاستقرار، واعتماد الحوار كوسيلة لحل الخلافات بين الدول، بما يتوافق مع مبادئ القانون الدولي وميثاق الأمم المتحدة.
كما تطرق اللقاء إلى آفاق التعاون في مجال تبادل الخبرات وتعزيز التعاون الأكاديمي بين البلدين، بالإضافة إلى مناقشة سبل تسهيل إجراءات منح التأشيرات لمواطني البلدين، وتفعيل الرحلات الجوية المباشرة بين ليبيا والمملكة المتحدة، بما يسهم في تعزيز التواصل والتبادل بين البلدين الصديقين.
His Excellency Mr. El- Taher El-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received this morning, Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters, His Excellency Mr. Martin Reynolds, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the State of Libya.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and activate joint cooperation across various fields, in a manner that supports and advances the partnership between the two friendly nations and serves their mutual interests.
The two sides also reviewed the latest developments in the political situation in Libya, as well as the efforts undertaken by the Government of National Unity to consolidate security and stability and advance sustainable development, in addition to its support for the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The discussions further included an exchange of views on the latest regional and international developments, alongside issues of mutual interest.
Both sides emphasized the importance of promoting security and stability and adopting dialogue as a means of resolving disputes between states, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The meeting also addressed prospects for cooperation in the exchange of expertise and the enhancement of academic cooperation between the two countries, in addition to discussing ways to facilitate visa procedures for citizens of both nations and the activation of direct flights between Libya and the United Kingdom, in a way that contributes to strengthening communication and exchange between the two friendly countries.
